Challenge
Due to a limited grid connection the company was not able to connect all required equipment simultaneously, which reduced productivity and could lead to grid shut-off and failure of installed implements. Also grid feed-in of solar power was restricted caused by overcapacity of generating power in the area.
Approach
Starting with the load list of installed equipment combined with their operational hours, we found gaps in power capacity during certain timeframe. By analyzing supply and demand in specialized modelling tools like Homer and PV-Syst, we came to an optimum solution and acceptable business case.
Solution
Installation of a lithium-ion battery storage of 67kWh combined with a 3-phase 60kW storage inverter benefits the company by not having to wait for an increased grid connection capacity. Depending on the availability and pricing of grid power versus decentral rooftop solar production, the batteries will be charged the cheapest way. Easy installation and monitoring assure the smart grid operation functionality of the integrated system supplied. A next step into further energy independency of the company!
