Challenge
A single wind turbine of 300kW owned by local IPP had the chance to be repowered based on local regulatory framework. The tip height was maximized to 100 meters and it was important to keep local stakeholders involved and get potential stakeholders to participate in the project output.
Approach
Within the given parameters we evaluated several wind turbines in the market based on production output, sound and shadow impact, financial feasibility as well as long-term sustainability and O&M performance. After tendering we selected the best solution regarding finance and procurement and guided the implementation until take-over.
Solution
The existing BONUS300 wind turbine was dismantled, refurbished and re-installed in the UK for its second life. We got planning for an Enercon E70 2.3MW wind turbine on 65 meters hub height, which was installed and operating within the given timeframe. Neighbours and a local village foundation are participating and making use of the electricity provided by the wind turbine, which helped the local acceptance of the repowering project.
